One of the reasons for the trip was to get a change from the monotony of "Get a life - not!" but you couldn't ask for a more monotonous ride from west Phoenix all the way to San Bernadino where the terrain gets green and cypresses wave in the wind. The I-10 corridor is the same just about all the way there. A flat plain between small, but growing larger as you head west, mountain ranges. The interesting thing is that some of them looked scoured. I presume they are volcanic remnants. This area used to be under water and the rivers, at on time, were inundating. The Hassayampa and the Colorado have very wide and quite dry flood plains. Otherwise, not much fun in 'getting there'.
Made my first leg-stretching stop at Quartzsite.
Not much to write home about; did not buy any rocks.

After a while you're in the Colorado River irrigation district.
Blythe. This range reminded me of the Panamints. (Alfalfa?) Bristol Mountains.

Another leg stretching and gas in Indio.
Last of the snow above Coachella Valley.
Upon getting in LA County, saw Mount Baldy. That's the San Gabriel Range. Breathtaking.
Especially after the long, dull drive through the desert.
Now all is green and lovely. California I-10 corridor ghastly.
