When I was a child, there were often epic struggles between labor and management. Some union or other about to 'go out' on account of negotiations breaking down. Bad. Goods or services would be halted. Again, more often then not, mediators would step in. Wall Street players (everyone's best interest in mind) would schmooze and oil on the waters.
Could be a monstrous inconvenience. Garbage piling up; commuting become aggravation. Yet people would cope. The favorite was always walking over the Brooklyn Bridge to work. And the funniest was the subway strike where Mike Quill took on Mayor Lindsley. Fun, eh? Eventually, the State of New York had to take over. MTA - which really meant Happy's hubby.
I do my best to 'stay out of it' insofar as getting riled goes. Only so much we can do. Remember (imagined scenario) thus: "Call Ted Kheel." Eventually things would work out. There's not much to do, really, but be patient. Control freaks may get despondent. Ease up. Lighten up. Carry on. Very difficult in a semi-slave right-to-work oppressive environment. Yet one deals with it with equanimity, sort of. Yeow.
