Girls Love Purple

This location has been vacant about five years. There was a Hi-Health in a not too demographically indicated neighborhood. Went under. Most, and I do mean more than 50% of the smaller store spaces, in this shopping center have been vacant since it's completion as a Wal-Mart anchored property. Some history there in that the big box was unfinished and unoccupied after Fred Meyer got into financial difficulty upon it's overexpansion from the Pacific Northwest contemporaneous to the S&L debacle - which is going back a ways.

Small businesses cannot afford the rents, let alone the insecurity of relocating a niche operation. A local Greek restaurateur nearby does well enough in a run-down location. When I suggested he relocate here, he said the rent would triple at least and he'd have to raise prices and consequently kiss off his regulars. So, what to do here?

Dance club? Try and get a liquor licence. The neighborhood would not approve. Dining? The locals prefer McDonald's. I was thinking a dance studio for all the little ballerinas; don't think so. Then there's the non-compete clauses probable with other food and beverage stores adjacent. An art gallery! Er... garage sales do better. Well... they'd better come up with something. Bothers me no end!

BTW new Wal-Mart at Metro Center. Hoopla!!! May be big sales. Emporia consumerinos!

I DON'T NEED A THING but would love to see a decent sports bar here. Convenience is all.
