Here's to Marlene. From what I gather, she had quite the cabaret act from that former supper club paradigm. A strong anti-Nazi who worked tirelessly during WWII entertaining troops and on bond drives, I think she got old fast per Hollywood casting and chose to play the clubs.
Emil Jannings, on the other hand, got jammed up for his Nazi sympathy. I've seen several of his films including "The Last Command" for which he was awarded the first Oscar for leading man.
Well, I digress, the Yanks not doing too good.
