No, I don't wish to humbug Christmas.
Just drove by a vacant lot nearby that's been occupied by a seasonal Christmas tree vendor as long as I've been around. The signage claims the trees are from Oregon. I remember my first Christmas there in 1973. We went to the foothills below Mt. Hood and cut our own. Coming from NYC and my parents having had an artificial tree for years - well, I thought it just brilliant.
And Christmas Day... I brought my ex-wife to what was touted by some folks as a premium traditional restaurant at the tony Benson Hotel in downtown Portland. It was alright but very old-fashioned; leather banquettes, linen and silverware, elderly waiters. Ha: the Edwardian Room, of course. No expense spared. Porterhouse steaks!
