Reason For Everything

Speaking of Raphael... LOL... School of Athens.

What, besides beards and togas, is notable about this picture? No girls! Molto LOL

Years ago, had a conversation with a woman, a writing teacher, about this. Familiar with the 'age of reason'? The Greeks held it to be seven, at which time a boy would be removed from his mother and the company of females to be trained up a man insofar as the martial arts go along with literacy, so to speak. So she told me. Hence gymnastic as opposed to gynastic, some to be taken up as protoges of the leading men, groomed as men's men inclusive of intimacy... pay no attention to the yammering woman.

There is a vestige of this misogeny in Islamic culture, boys bonding however and females segregated. We also spoke of "Lawrence of Arabia", the cinematic rendition of this. She asked me if I noticed the same thing... there are no woman characters. (T.E. was queer.) I said there were as I distinctly remembered hearing, for the first time, ullulating!

Anyway, I like girls. For the most part. LOL
