Now this is an exquisite picture. We'll see how it goes down with the friendly folks on Facebook. (Oh, please, please like it... like me... affirm me... support me... validate me... give me une raison d'être... please!
There's an idea - could spend the afternoon reading the Oxford Dictionary. When I was a kid, I used to spend hours reading a 1940s publication of the Lincoln Encyclopedia, something like Collier's, not so detailed as Britannica, which I read at the library. It was a hand-me-down from a neighbor, Mrs. Sternberg. I would do these sort of things. Read Information Please Almanac from cover to cover. Same sort of existential dynamic as at present (reading about things and history no one ever talks about in real time) where it was isolated but most edifying. But, yeah, when there's no affirmation, well, self-esteem gets double-bound; you're wasting your time - useless information.
Some recent time ago, I had cause to secure my high school transcript. I don't recall taking IQ tests specifically, but do remember taking them. It was noted therupon. I never knew, they never told me. I've a 140 IQ. That's pretty high. Imagine being such and not being in any society where it's affirmed. Quite a drag? Understatement. Psychiatrists have related to me this is problematic insofar as an active mind goes where there is no one to communicate with nor thrive. I spend my life listening to other people bore me stiff. But I'm 'nice' about it.
